How To: Go longer between shampoos, and look good in the process.

Hey, hey, hey friends! I hope you all are hanging in there and staying healthy! Do I start all my blogs and videos like that now? What can I say? Its how I feel! Down to the real order of business. How to go longer between shampoos, and how to look good in the process. I felt like this would be a good topic to piggy back off of my last tutorial. I know it's a common question. How do you go from shampooing every day to once a week? First and foremost. Yes, I can go seven to ten days between shampoos. Is that going to work for everyone? No. Women who have more dense and coarse hair can usually support going longer between shampoos. Those of you who have thinner, finer hair types I'm sorry but you probably can't. Coarse hair needs more moisture than finer hair does. Hence why it can handle and support more of the natural oil your scalp produces. That being said; those of you ladies shampooing everyday isn't great either.

When you shampoo your hair every day, you are stripping your scalp of its natural oils. Once it's cleansed it kicks back into oil production mode. So, if you're cleansing your scalp every day, it never has the chance to catch up to you. This explains why you might feel greasy at the end of the day. The best way to combat this vicious cycle is to train your scalp. By resisting the urge to shampoo you give your scalp a breather. Dry shampoo is going to be your best friend when training your scalp.

Step 1: Try going one extra day between shampoos. If that means you wear your hair up in a cute braid, bun, or pony then do it! Use dry shampoo to prevent looking like an oil slick and you're groovy.

Step 2: Once you've gone that one extra day you can't go back. I repeat, YOU CANT GO BACK! After a little time of this new routine your oil production will level out and it won't be as bad. You'll even find yourself not using as much dry shampoo. When this happens that means its time to push it one more day! So on and so forth you'll keep pushing one extra day every few weeks or so. Before you know it, you won't find yourself a slave to your shampoo days.

If you're one of those people who works out religiously and feel like you NEED to wash your hair to feel clean. Instead of stripping it with a shampoo post workout, try using a product like RE.STORE. It's a non-foaming cleansing creme treatment that replaces both your shampoo and conditioner on the day of use. It will gently cleanse your scalp without stripping it.
